Update on Proposed Amalgamation with Fusion FC

To our SDU Community,

We want to share an important update regarding the proposed amalgamation between South Delta United and Fusion FC. After careful consideration, Fusion FC has decided not to move forward with the amalgamation at this time. Click here to read their letter.

As a result, the Special General Meeting (SGM) originally scheduled for Monday, March 31st has been cancelled.

While this outcome is certainly not what we had hoped for, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of you—our members—for your patience, engagement, and thoughtful feedback throughout this process. We know that the uncertainty over the past few months has raised questions about the future, and we truly appreciate the care so many of you brought to conversations about what’s best for our club and community.

We’d also like to acknowledge the incredible work of the volunteers and staff who gave their time and expertise to help us evaluate this opportunity. From financial and legal reviews to technical planning and member communications, this was no small undertaking—and we are deeply grateful for everyone who played a part.

Although the formal amalgamation won’t be proceeding, our collaboration with Fusion FC continues. This spring, we’ll be welcoming Fusion teams into our community through the Cascadia League, and where space allows, we’re also happy to be integrating Fusion players and coaches into SDU programs. These partnerships reflect our shared goal of strengthening soccer experiences for all players in our region.

Looking ahead, SDU remains committed to growth, development, and pursuing opportunities that elevate our club and our players. We continue to invest in strong programming, support coach development, and work toward creating BCSPL pathways that help local players reach their full potential.

Thank you again for your ongoing support and belief in SDU. We look forward to continuing to grow together.

With gratitude,
The SDU Board of Directors
